What the rule requires

A crossed-out price is only lawful if it is the lowest price the store charged in the previous 30 days. Platforms record a compare-at price but not a price history, so the 30-day figure has to be tracked and rendered by an app or by hand.

Who it binds: Any trader announcing a price reduction to consumers in the EU. The prior price shown must be the lowest price applied in the 30 days before the reduction.
